meeting notes: Transport in TT2A; 15.Sept.2004: S.Prodon, Y.Bernard, A.Fabich

bulletY.Bernard replaces J.Bernard.
bulletThe maximum weight to transport "easily" is 3.6 tons, which is the limit of the "tortue" (turtle transport utility, picture, picture). An item exceeding this weight is transportable, but gets more complicated (=time).
bulletThe beam attenuator (iron 160x80x80 cm) should be installed in several pieces with a base of concrete.
bulletThe metallic chassis of the nToF cooling unit has to be removed for transport into TT2A or at least partly modified and reinstalled.
bulletA second floor of concrete will be installed from the step at the junction of TT2 and TT2A to the first quad in TT2A in order to handle heavy items more easily. The step has a height of 45 cm.
bulletThe double concrete wall on the north side of the TT2 tunnel at junction is unused. It was installed for a previous design of the nToF line. Its removal is difficult (as it is a single concrete wall, not individual blocks). Edges could be modified to allow a larger entrance width.
bulletThe weight and the dimensions of the solenoid should be verified: According http://198.125.178.188/bnlpulsed/bnl-001R1.pdf the outer dimensions are length=1.8m, width=?1.3m and height=?1.3m; The weight is about 4 ton.
bulletThe base plate of the solenoid should be designed in collaboration with the transport team to have an usable interface to the transport utilities.
bulletThe width of the turtle is 134 cm. Maximum weight for transport is 3.6 tons.
bulletMeasured passage at the junction is 135 cm. According to the ACAD drawing it is 140 cm.
bullet1 team = 3 persons
bulletestimation de temps pour (1 day = 1 team * 8 hours)
bulletopening access pit: 1 day (with 160 tons crane)
bulletclosure = opening access pit
bulletinstallation 2nd floor: 1/2 day
bullettransport solenoid from surface to beam line: 3 day (weight<3.6 tons)
bullettransport solenoid from surface to beam line: 5 day (weight>3.6 tons)
bulletbeam dump: 1 day
bulletmercury loop: 1 day
bulletremoval of dipoles and quads from/to beam line: 1/2 day
bulletputting down all material from surface down to TT2: 1 day
bulletsummary: 8 day, so more or less two weeks
bulletremoval is more or less the same depending on the items which are completely removed or only placed off the beam line.
